Iseo

The village that gives the lake its name

Iseo, on the south-eastern shore, gives the lake its name. The old town gathers around Piazza Garibaldi, with arcades, cafés and the lakefront where boats leave for Monte Isola.

What to see

  • Piazza Garibaldi and the old town: the heart of the village, steps from the water.
  • Castello Oldofredi: the medieval castle, now home to a library, exhibitions and events.
  • Pieve di Sant’Andrea: the church with its Romanesque bell tower, one of the oldest on the lake.
  • Clusane: the fishing hamlet famous for baked tench with polenta.
  • Torbiere del Sebino: the nature reserve just outside town, towards Provaglio d’Iseo.

Good to know

Iseo has a station on the Brescia-Iseo-Edolo line. The market is on Tuesday and Friday mornings in the centre, and on Saturday in Clusane.
